Detailing the Athearn SD45T-2 (Part 11)


Now that the snowplow is done, we'll move on to the coupler lift bar. I found that when trying to bend the DA #2211 lift bar to form the V-shape it was not long enough to span the entire width of the pilot. There are three solutions to this dilemma:

  • 1. Use the DA part as a guide to form a new one piece lift bar.
  • 2. Modify the DA part to represent a more prototypical 3-piece lift bar.
  • 3. Using the DA part as a guide, form a new 3-piece lift bars from .0125" phosphor bronze wire.

I went with option three because I wanted to try replicating the prototype lift bar.
