Detailing the Athearn SD45T-2 (Part 50)


When we left off, we had just finished up with the installation of the sand line brackets. In the next few step we will add wire to the sand line to represent the hose that carries the sand to the nozzle. There are a couple ways of doing this, however I'm going to utilize a method shown to me by a good modeling friend of mine. Thanks DH!

In the photo below we see the sand line bracket installed on the truck sideframe. According to the directions on the parts package, you can slip a length of wire insulation over the "nub" to simulate the hose. As mentioned before there are several methods of installing this line. The method we'll use here differs slightly from the directions on the parts package.

What we are going to do is actually remove the protrusion off the end of the bracket as shown in the first photo. A pair of sprue nippers or a sharp hobby knife will make quick work of this.

In this next photo we see that the little "nub" has been removed.
