[Note misspelling of "Cantara"] The Sacramento River is at the lower right, and just ahead of the train is the bridge where the Southern Pacific derailed several tank cars on July 14, 1991, one of which fell into the river and leaked 19,000 gallons of metam sodium. The river was essentially sterilized from this point downstream to Shasta Lake. |
