SPMW 7020

SPMW 7020 is a 160-ton Bucyrus-Erie wrecking crane. It was built in Wisconsin in 1928 as machine number 9869. Purchased new by Southern Pacific and assigned number 7005, it was delivered to Odgen, Utah, and assigned to the Shasta Division. Its history includes operations in Dunsmuir, California, and Klamath Falls, Oregon (late 1950's). It was renumbered to 7020 sometime around 1973. After the crane was retired, the Rick Franklin Corp. in Lebanon, Oregon purchased the crane around 1994. Donated to the Western Steam Fiends (no 'r') in 1999 with the condition that it be restored to operation, it now resides in Brooks, Oregon at the Antique Powerland Museum. It is operated every summer as part of the "Great Oregon Steamup." (All images except the information sign were taken on 07.27.02)
