Shasta Route Freight Schedules and Symbols:

3 tables listing freight train symbols, schedules and an old to new symbol conversion. These were originally system-wide lists, compiled by Dave Stanley, and sent to me by Don DeLay. The lists appeared in CTC Board magazine during 1971. Note: Anyone desiring the complete listing may download a Microsoft Excel 2000 spreadsheet. Note: If you experience difficulties downloading the list, please send me a message at "sp_8296 [at] yahoo [dot] com" and I will send you a copy.

The Gold Spike Album
In 1967, a group of artists met to discuss the possibilities of producing a group of paintings depicting the history of California, and the Central Pacific's role in the Transcontinental Railroad. This book illustrates 94 paintings created for the 100th anniversary of the Golden Spike, along with a short history of the SP, Mileposts in SP's History, and a calendar of events for Golden Spike ceremonies throughout 1969.

SP Train Paperwork (1): Not being a railroader, I had often wondered what kind of paperwork a train crew needs to carry. In early 1997, an engineer was kind enough to throw his paperwork out of the cab window of SD70M #9810, leading the "EUWCQ" through West O'Brien, CA.

9
SP Train Paperwork (2): Another set of paperwork, this time governing the X7335 West.
